In this video presentation 'Interactive Language Creation (ILC): Applying Semiotics for Change in Language Teaching', Anne McDonald criticises the current traditional approach to English language teaching and presents ILC as an alternative approach in which the teacher and students interact in the classroom as they collaboratively create language/text together. ILC is Anne's application of semiotics and Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) to the language classroom. In the presentation, Anne explains why the current approach has to change. She then explains the theory behind ILC and also how ILC can be put into practice in the classroom.
